Celebrating the production ability of Montbeliardes…

At the 2024 AGM the Society’s Annual Production Awards were presented for the milk recording year September 2022-2023. The awards again reflect not only the Montbeliarde’s ability to adapt on many diverse farming systems, but also their ability to produce large volumes of component rich milk, displayed through the first four classes that honour the top producers of fat and protein in kg’s combined. Huge congratulations to each of the class winners (both breeders and animals) on their achievements, with a special mention to JS & IM Wilson (Blackcombe) who secured top place in six of the nine classes including best herd on overall production and best herd on combined kg’s of fat and protein. Winning the lifetime classes for both highest milk yield and highest amount of fat and protein was Obelisk Tricastin Lotus bred and owned by EF Hemming & Sons with 78,157kg of milk recorded so far in seven lactations and 5300kg of combined fat and protein, what a great example of the production potential and longevity the Monty can offer.
